Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company, one of Austin’s longest standing modern dance companies, opens its 20th season with the premiere of “MOON,” an original work with choreography by Kathy Dunn Hamrick, performed to live music by line upon line percussion. “MOON,” a fifty-minute dance, uses alternating phases of acceleration and deceleration, of filling and emptying, of pushing and pulling, and of light and dark to create moments of tension and surprise. Line upon line, an Austin-based percussion group, will play five different pieces of music for the new work. This is the fourth collaboration for the critically-acclaimed dance and music ensembles.

Additionally, Artistic Director and Choreographer Kathy Dunn Hamrick was recognized as “a model for the artist who approaches each project in a spirit of experimentation and reinvention” and inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame.
