The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness and Arts Committees are co-hosting a series of workshops to create rejuvenating spaces. Join us and focus on your health through artful practices. These workshops will give your body, brain, and heart an
opportunity to rest and rejuvenate for the purpose of functioning more optimally in your business and personal life.

Creative Writing Workshop: Tues, July 14 at 12:00 p.m.

Learning methods to incorporate gratitude into your business through creative writing can boost employee morale, alter the ways you set and approach business goals, and improve business from the inside out!

This workshop will be presented by Moriah Gill, a freelance writer living in Austin, Texas, with a background in SEO content writing, editing, and creative writing.

Artful Meditation: Tues, July 21 at 12:00 p.m.

Regular self-care is more important than ever as we face the challenges and tragedies of today’s world. Join us for a time of refreshment, visual beauty, and connection in this online meditation with art historian Dr. Hannah Wong. Claim a moment of uplift during the workday hours with calming breathing practices and an imaginative journey through a single painting. See you there!

This workshop will be presented by Dr. Hannah Wong, founder of Vox Omnibus Consulting, a professional development company that connects the workplace with the creative and expressive potentials of art. She earned her PhD in modern art history from the University of Texas at Austin and has held fellowships from the Smithsonian, National Gallery of Art and the Blanton Museum of Art. With a passion for making; art accessible to the public and over a decade of experience teaching in higher education institutions, Hannah has taught art history at the University of Maryland, University of Texas, Baylor University, and Austin Community College. She is also a Blanton Museum lecturer and created the museum's recent series of adult learning courses.

Selfie Sketching: Tues, July 28 at 12:00 p.m.

Would you like to learn more about queer artists who use self-portraits to communicate their identities? Would you like to practice basic sketching tips to draw your own selfie portrait? Take a break and join us to increase your visual literacy by viewing and
discussing artworks and exercise your creative skills through sketching practice.

Supplies needed: pencil and paper

This workshop will be presented by Karen Bravo who has a BFA in Fashion Design from the University of North Texas (UNT), an MA in Textiles for Design Futures from Central Saint Martins, and is currently enrolled in the Texas Woman's University Multicultural Women and Gender Studies MA program and the UNT Art Museum Education certificate program. She is a research affiliate at the University of Texas at Austin Biomedical Engineering Department, working with a team conducting post-mastectomy undergarment research. Her research interests include the intersection of feminist theories and fashion studies as well as feminist pedagogy in arts and design education. She has over a decade of teaching experience in universities and has developed and led art and design workshops for nonprofits.

Each workshop will have a limited number of spots available for those who wish to participate with the presenter inside a Zoom conference room.

In 2019, Austin LGBT Chamber joined forces with our partner LGBT Chamber in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio to form the Texas LGBT Chamber.
