KMFA OFFBEAT CONCERT SERIES PRESENTS
MOONTOWER DUO
VISTAS
Fri, Nov 21 at 7:00 p.m. | Draylen Mason Music Studio
KMFA Classical 89.5’s Fall 2025 Offbeat Series continues with Moontower Duo’s genre-bending guitar visions in a new program called Vistas on Friday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Draylen Mason Music Studio.
Austin-based Moontower Duo, featuring composer-performers Matthew Lyons and Stephen Krishnan, takes the stage with Vistas, a program of original works that stretch the boundaries of the classical guitar repertoire. Known for blending intricacy with broad appeal by incorporating popular genres, extended techniques, and unexpected subject matter, their concerts brim with infectious grooves, expressive themes, and moments of reckless fun—sometimes leaving audiences to wonder if they’ve just witnessed the spirits of Steely Dan or Radiohead conjured through two guitars.
The Vistas program includes Cardinal Craig, inspired by a particularly vocal neighborhood cardinal; Two Nabokov Pieces, neo-romantic character sketches drawn from Vladimir Nabokov’s literary world; Vistas, a reflective and celebratory commission that serves as the concert’s centerpiece; and The Trees are Talking, a suite of pieces inspired by native Texas trees imagined as if they could speak. The Duo will also premiere a brand-new work written especially for this concert, with a few surprises in store—including the addition of melodicas.
Arrive early at 6:00 p.m. for a pre concert experience and complimentary beverages from Tito's Handmade Vodka, Milam & Greene Whiskey, WildGins Co., and Dos Cuernos Tequila with craft beer on tap from Brewtorium Brewery & Kitchen and wine selections courtesy of Twin Liquors.
