Position Overview:
KMFA is seeking a dynamic Marketing Director who will develop and implement innovative marketing strategies aimed at reaching classical music consumers in Austin who may not yet be familiar with our station. This role is crucial for expanding our listener base and solidifying KMFA's presence in the local arts and culture scene.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Marketing Committee, celebrate the legacy of KMFA and lead a proposed rebranding to recognize the scope of KMFA’s expanded operations and leverage significant growth potential as Austin’s hub of the arts.
- Create and execute targeted marketing strategies to attract new audiences and drive growth, focusing on engaging classical music enthusiasts and potential audiences in a range of demographics.
- Utilize market research to identify and understand the preferences of classical consumers in Austin, tailoring outreach efforts accordingly.
- Develop and manage integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social media, print, outdoor, and community events to elevate the KMFA brand.
- Collaborate with programming and content teams to produce engaging and relevant promotional material that resonates with current and potential listeners.
- Cultivate partnerships with local businesses, educational institutions, and arts organizations to enhance community outreach and engagement.
- Operate digital presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with the community.
- Analyze program performance and audience data to refine marketing efforts continuously.
- Plan promotional events and community outreach activities to boost visibility and listener involvement.
- Deploy dedicated support for the Development, Content, Events, and Sales teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, ideally within media, public media, arts organizations, or nonprofit sectors.
- Track record of success working in a cross-departmental organization.
- Proven track record of successfully reaching specific audience segments and increasing audience engagement.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools, including Google grants, social media platforms, and data analytics. Data driven.
- Ability to think strategically in the context of a hands-on approach to regular tasks.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
- Experience in a rebranding effort.
- Love of classical music a plus.

Position Overview:
The Development Manager has a key support role for the development department as project manager for all communications and campaigns, and program manager for on-air membership drives, grants, and KMFA’s Board of Directors. This is a key support position for team members working membership, mid-level, and major gift portfolios.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serves as lead project manager for any active major gifts campaign, coordinating campaign correspondence, monitoring gift and pledge records, and conducting prospect research as needed.
- Serves as primary contact for Member Services inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
- Monitors and provides updates for all development pages on both organization and campaign websites.
- Supports Membership Director as the planning and logistical lead for all on-air membership drives.
- Supports all development team members as project manager for campaigns including managing the department’s communications calendar, running point on copy and creative for campaigns as needed.
- Supports a team annual fund and grants fundraising goal of $2M+.
- Supports major gifts team by running and distributing daily summary reports, verifying transactions for major donor gifts, writing, merging, and mailing acknowledgments and tax receipts for major gifts, and providing donor research support as needed.
- Serves as lead for grants management including tracking deadlines for applications and reporting, supporting Director of Development with applications and report submissions, and conducting research on grant opportunities.
- Serves as lead for board management including scheduling all board and board committee meetings; compiling and distributing agendas, minutes, and other materials to the board as needed; taking minutes during quarterly board meetings.
- Supports Underwriting team as needed for any joint departmental needs under Chief Revenue Officer.
Required Knowledge & Job Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two to three years of experience in project management full-time.
- Two to three years of experience in a nonprofit development/advancement department or equivalent combination of experience in similar sectors.
- Strategic and creative thinker; highly organized and able to set, enforce, and meet deadlines.
- Superior verbal communication skills, including strong phone skills, and written communication skills to include copy editing, proof reading, and finalizing documents.
- Working knowledge and familiarity with CRMs and reporting. Experience with Allegiance Fundraising a plus.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates a strong donor service attitude with a focus on donor-centered fundraising.
- Exhibits a self-starter attitude and enjoys working autonomously.
- Maintains a prominent level of integrity and adheres to KMFA’s gift acceptance policies.
- Personal connection to or love of classical music and the arts a plus.
Work Environment Requirements:
- Will be required to occasionally work extended workdays, evenings, and weekends.
- In-office work hours depend upon organization-wide policy. At the time of this posting: work in KMFA studios required 2 days per week.
