Austin’s genre-bending string quartet Invoke presents a very special edition of their monthly concert series Under the Hood at Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches (3220 Manor Road, Austin, TX 78723). 

This event represents the most ambitious Under the Hood yet. Taking place outside in Batch's spacious and shaded backyard from 6pm-9pm, event attendees will be treated to several of Austin's most original acts. Maru Haru, Proun, Peach Blossom Highway, and Jessica Healey - all at times joined by members of Invoke. 

Join us for an evening of incredible music, local community, great food and beer! Admission is $10/person. Arrive early to get a good spot—let’s have an amazing night with great music and talented people.

About the Artists

Invoke

Described by Strings Magazine as a group that “cannot be contained by any one label,” Invoke (Nick Montopoli, violin/banjo/vocals; Zach Matteson, violin/vocals; Karl Mitze, viola/mandolin/vocals; Geoff Manyin, cello/vocals) has earned a reputation for adventurous music-making that blurs boundaries between classical, folk, bluegrass, and jazz. Winners of the M-Prize International Chamber Arts Competition and the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, Invoke brings innovation and storytelling into every performance.

Maru Haru

Austin-based indie classical rock band led by singer-songwriter James Tabata. Their songs portray Asian American and queer experiences, making peace with family and society, and moving along with empathy. Musical influences include video games, math rock, impressionist classical music, J-Pop, and indie folk.

Proun

Austin-based project proun, led by guitarist/bassist/lyricist Jamie Weed, makes music to reflect new interpretations of life. It’s scratching the surface, but that’s your invitation to delve further into Weed’s rumination on the three-track EP form, enveloped by swathes of dreamy guitar riffs and melodic manifestation.

Peach Blossom Highway

Peach Blossom Highway is the duo project of Austin artists Jess Griggs & Jordan Walsh. Described as an “unbroadcast-pirate-radio-phenomenon with precious little regard for anyone’s betterment including their own”, PBC is at once the most important and least serious effort in Griggs & Walsh’s creative world.

Jessica Healey

Jessica Healey is an indie artist based in Austin, Texas. Known for her genre-defying sound, she draws from the intimacy of folk, the raw energy of rock, the harmonic depth of jazz, and the clarity of pop to create music that is approachable yet complex.

Under the Hood takes place at Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches, a family-owned bakery, taproom, and brewery in East Austin. Batch is beloved for elevating the Central Texas kolache with gourmet fillings from Micklethwait Craft Meats and fresh local fruit, paired with a rotating lineup of craft beer from Austin, across the U.S., and around the world. With a full coffee and espresso program in partnership with Greater Goods Roasting, Batch is a community hub where carbs, coffee, and creativity collide.
