Emperor Charles V passed away on September 21, 1558 at a monastery in Spain, where he had taken refuge after abdicating two years earlier. Music was his solace in retirement, and after his death more than three thousand funeral ceremonies were held in his honor in Europe and the New World. We'll hear a recent release from Utopia ensemble of the Requiem by Pierre de Manchicourt.
